In tribute to the legacy of one of the biggest names in sweeping piano music, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center artists will mark the 150th anniversary of the Russian musician’s birth with “Rachmaninoff Celebration.”

“I wanted to experience Odissi differently,” Indian dancer artist Bijayini Satpathy said.

Las Cafeteras, known for its protest songs and use of traditional instruments to connect cultures and generations, will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of free community events starting Oct. 9.

The Los Angeles Times calls the Afro-Mexican rhythms and powerful rhymes of Las Cafeteras a “uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia, and rock.”

The Emmet Cohen Trio will conjure the intimate club vibe of “Live at Emmet’s Place” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Eisenhower Auditorium.

Armenian-born vocalist Lucy Yeghiazaryan will join the musicians for the trio’s third performance for the Center for the Performing Arts.
