Director’s View: Fabulous musical
collaborations in store this month

On February 16 we welcome back for the third time in five seasons banjo artist Béla Fleck, who performs this time with jazz piano great Chick Corea. The two are barnstorming the world amazing audiences with duets of staggering virtuosity. They’ve combined their talents to explore and push the boundaries of a range of musical idioms as showcased on The Enchantment, the duo’s first full-length album. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to see two master musicians combine talents in a performance sure to be talked about for years.

Great artists from Europe collaborate on February 26. German cellist Claudio Bohórquez joins the Russian National Orchestra, conducted by Carlo Ponti Jr., in what promises to be a spectacular showcase. Bohórquez performs Dvorák’s concerto, one of the most beloved of the repertoire. Then the dynamic Moscow orchestra performs a classic of the Russian repertoire, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. The orchestra is at the top of its game, and we have a dynamic soloist who doesn’t come to this country often. It promises to be a wonderful concert to end a leap-year February.
