Las Cafeteras, known for its protest songs and use of traditional instruments to connect cultures and generations, will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of free community events starting Oct. 9.

The Los Angeles Times calls the Afro-Mexican rhythms and powerful rhymes of Las Cafeteras a “uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia, and rock.”

The Emmet Cohen Trio will conjure the intimate club vibe of “Live at Emmet’s Place” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Eisenhower Auditorium.

Armenian-born vocalist Lucy Yeghiazaryan will join the musicians for the trio’s third performance for the Center for the Performing Arts.

Penn State’s Center for the Performing Arts announces a variety of joyful, creative and community-building events for its 2023–2024 event season.

The Center for the Performing Arts Move Mix Festival, featuring Red Baraat, will explore the joy in rhythmic percussive beats and movements from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Eisenhower Auditorium rear loading dock.
