Dallas Children’s Theater performs a Cinderella-like tale, based on a Caldecott Award-winning book by John Steptoe, set in Africa and celebrating goodness, generosity, and love. When a great king desires a wife, only the most worthy and beautiful maidens in the land are invited to meet him. Mufaro’s pride and joy, his two daughters of decidedly different dispositions, cross a river and journey for half a day to go before the king. Adapted for the stage by Karen Abbott, Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters features traditional chanting and African song.
