The Birdland All-Stars
featuring Tommy Igoe

7:30 pm Friday, January 26, 2018

Experience the mood of a landmark jazz club when drummer Tommy Igoe and his big band, in their first tour in five years, recreate the excitement of an evening at Birdland. Featuring some of the finest musicians in New York City, The Birdland All-Stars band sets the standard for a twenty-first-century jazz orchestra.

The Penn State concert will include new arrangements of music by David Bowie, The Police, and Steely Dan, plus fresh treatments of compositions by Charlie Parker, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock.

“There isn’t another band like this anywhere. … a music experience you simply must witness,” writes a Time Out New York critic. “Tommy Igoe’s drumming defies the laws of physics,” asserts a writer for the International Jazz Herald.

Discover why the band, which has been thrilling audiences at “The Jazz Corner of the World” for a decade, has become one of the Big Apple’s most popular music attractions.
